Iligan City- May 27/13- The special election of the 5 Barangays at the Municipality of Tangcal , Lanao del Norte ( Barangay's Pelingkingan, Somiorang, Tangkal Proper, Lamaosa and Lindogan) has been scheduled on May 29/13.
What was reported to the Commission of en banc was that there was a vehicle carrying the BEI's (board Election Inspectors) of the other 2 barnagay's, Lamaosa and Lindogan which had proceeded to the area without the presence of AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and PNP( Philippine National Police) according to Atty. Hamilton Cuevas Provincial Election Supervisor.
However a witness stated during a Comelec Convergence conference last May 27/13 narrated that a truck carrying the BEI's of the said 2 other Barangay's in Tangcal, upon hearing gunshots panicked and fled away from the scene.
Cuevas was informed after the May 13th election that a forth coming investigation on what had transpired will be investigated that had lead to failure of election. "It's only in Lanao Del Norte of the entire Philippines that failure of election has occurred, Atty. Cuevas says. "This is the reason why the Commission on election is taking much interest in this activity regarding with this special election."Cuevas commented.
With the recommendation of the Commission on Election the BEI's will all come from the Comelec personnel and will no longer be teachers of Public schools since this is a special election" according to Atty Cuevas.
The Election will be manned by Comelec personnel from Lanao Del Norte. Those that will be serving on the May 29/ 13 elections will mostly be Christian women."Cuevas added.
Meanwhile the AFP and PNP recommendation is to transfer the Election poll for the 5 barnagay's at (big) Banisilon Elementary School Poblacion which is the biggest school available for the Special election on May 29/13.
Cuevas assures that all registered voters will be able to cast their votes as soon as it would be centralized at Banisilon Elementary School.
"The Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police assures full security and access to both parties while the COMELEC will regulate as to do away with any riots." Cuevas concluded. (-30- ) Irma S. Boza/ Babcock International News
