Some of the barangays in the town of Socorro Island in the province of
Surigao del Norte are in danger to calamities, according to the Municipal
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
Based on the historical account and scientific studies some of the
barangays of Navarro, Rizal, Sta Cruz, Pamusaingan, Sering, Helen,Taruc, Del Pilar, Songkoy and Conrado
are prone to tsunami , storm surge, landslides and wildfire.
Residents of these barangay were accounted more or less to be 2,275
families and 14,882 individual.
Studies, recently was conducted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of
this town on what measures to be taken
to reduce the effect whenever calamities
occurred in the area.
