Maigo,lanao del Norte – The Department of Tourism (DOT) has declared Maigo's Nangkaan festival s a calendar event in the national lists of festival in the country.
DOT Regional director Catalino Chan III disclosed recently in the celebration of Maigo 52nd founding anniversary and 4th Nangka an festival last February 27, 2011.
Chan in his speech said that DOT regional office will giveP5,000.00 on top of the prize for next year's Nangkaan festival best performer and another P5,000.00 for the best music accompaniment. The recent prizes ranges from P40,000 for the first prize won by the Maigo National High School, (MNHS), Maigo School of Art and Trade (MSU MSAT) who got the second prize of P30,000 and the Department of Education (DepED) who won the third place ?
He said for the Nangkaan festival to improve he challenge, the contenders to research well the history and its music accompaniment that would fit for the said festival.He was thankful for Mayor Rafael "Paeng" Rizalda for his effort to pursue to said festival."I appreciated and thank the newly elected mayor for his support to the Nangkaan festival and for giving DOT industry a Chance",Chan said. The Nangkaan festival was formerly dubbed as "Anihan festival" and was changed to nangkaan festival four years ago. Chan also said Maigo's "One Town One Product" (OTOP) should be proud of for its is a unique product package by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Meanwhile, Mayor Rizalda in his speech thanking the DOT in putting the Maigo festival in its tourism map in the national list of festivals in the Philippines. " As DOT declared Nangkaan festival in the national list of festivals, we need to have a better infrastructure such as municipal auditorium to be recommended by our DOT regional director Catlino Chan III to the DOT central office", Rizalda said.
He added that Maigo will also become a tourist destination for the its beautiful beaches.This was also declared by DOT regional director.
Rizalda is optomistic to address its problem on a better access roads and other infrastructures after the apporval of its municipal council to purchase new heavy equipments."Wehave nowthe cacpacity to rehabilitate our farm to market,barangay and hinterland roads. Through this I personally thanking the SP members for their support for this administration and the blessing that pour by the higher government officials",Rizalda disclosed.
He stressed the projects poured in by the national government such as the 200 housing units, 5 evacuation centers, 5 million of project from the Mindanao Development Authority for level 2 water system in Barangay Maliwanag.
He also emphized the universal philhealth cards which more than 7,000 residents of his town were benefitted since 2002.He also expressed his thanks to the former governor and congressman Abdullah Dimaporo for the past assistance.
For her part,Executive director Carlota S. Madriaga of Department of Agriculture,MINCIADP
told the audience that Maigo residents should be proud of their mayor for doing personal follow up of their projects and the full support of the leaders and the department heads .She said that P 60,000 for livelihood will be provided for the processing of Nangka and goat production with 10 percent counterpart of the municipal government. A road rehabilation will also be provided.
Former governor and congressman Dimaporo who represent his wife Congresswoman Imelda Dimaporoand his son Governor Mohd Khalid Dimaporo conratulated the peopleof maigo for the successful 52nd founding anniversary and the 4th Nangkaan festival.He said that governor Dimaporo brought the Nangkaan contigent to Cebu's sinulog and won the second place.He also lauded the municipal officials led by mayor Rizalda which he mentioned their cold war for the past years but, personally attended the celebration to support the town's developemnt and peace and order which he said the Dimaporo administration agenda. He stressed that his wife and son will be helping each other with other LGU in the province to address therpoblemin the peace and order condition, health, education and livelihood and infrastructure development.
