Iligan City -(March 30, 2011) All participants in all sector of society convened in the boardroom at Mindanao sate University -Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).
An all male participants that discussed on the women’s plight and Rights and during the culmination, established an all-men network that would principally advocate in eradicating violence against women and children.
Frank Dosdos, a veteran broadcast and print journalist is the group convener while Mr. Steve Librado was the secretary.
Men-participants who are mostly from media, Civil Society Group (CSOs) and peacebuilders broke the culture of silence among men with regards to violence against women.
"To borrows Musa Sanguila’s punch line, “balingag nga bana ang magdagmal og asawa”. Men, in general are indeed, an ally of women in this struggle and not at all, an enemy", Pakigdait Project Manager
The all-men network, whose official name is still to be named is the local version of the global White Ribbon Campaign -– that started in Canada in 1991 and now has spread out in 50 countries spanning six continents.
White Ribbon Campaign, as all participants have pinned white ribbon , believed that mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and female-friends should never have to live in fear of violence at the hands of men.
