“SATAUL
HAQQ” (The Voice of Truth), a non-government organization committed to launch a
campaign for openness and accountability in the public service was launched
last October 30 in the Islamic City of Marawi.
According
to former Vice Governor and Human Rights Lawyer Atty. Dimpuno Ramos-Datu in a
scale of 1-10, the level of openness and accountability in the province of
Lanao del Sur is at Level 5.
In
his message to a crowd of about 600 people gathered at the Covered Court of
Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao at Matampay, Ramos-Datu exhorted to people to seek the
truth for “only the truth will set us free.”
SATAUL
HAQQ is managed by Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Alim Ameroddin
Sarangani, Secretary General Atty. Gonie Abubakar and Deputy Secretary General
Datu Ibra Macapanton.
Other
Convenors who spoke during the occasion were Alim Abdulhamid L. Imran, Engr.
Ashary Maongco, Alim Jalaloddin A. Sarangani, Alim Abdulbasit A. Hadjinor and
Dr. Bashary A. Latiph.
Hafez
Abdullah, a young man, sang songs to break the monotony of the short messages
that sometimes tended to be long.
The
program ended with the releasing of balloons marking the beginning of the
movement.
Masters
of Ceremonies were Atty. Baguinda Ali A. Pacalna and Vice Mayor Bontalis M.
Mala.
The
gathering ended with Press Conference.
The
Convernors told newsmen that some of the objectives of SATAUL HAQQ are: To
inform the people from time to time on the performance of public officials and
other public servants; and to assist the people of Lanao del Sur and Marawi
City (Ranao) in the redress of their grievances.
They
said that they will also support the government in the realization of its
programs and projects in Ranao for good governance, effective leadership and
political reform.
And
finally they will initiate such other plans and programs to carry out their
objectives, they said.
