AFP launches watercraft project CONDOR3 in ZamboPen-RIC CLET and MARIZ REVALESf
He stressed that all available assets, equipments, and other material support under his watch will be prioritized for the field units. This program will address the appropriate armaments, protection, transportation, and medical attention.
He added that we are faced with making a choice: to wait and react or to make pro-active step in order to improve the lives of the citizens of Zamboanga del Norte. "This program is one of the active measures to the direction which we are going to attain. I will support with all the equipments of the Philippine Army , to fight terrorism at iba pang masasamang elemento na gumugulo at nagpapahirap sa ating bansa . This is why the army adapts to the changing environment in order to bring out improvements in the security sector of this province.
The newly built 3 pump boats and 10 scout boats were presented to the provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte before the local government units of Zamboanga del Norte at Barangay Sta Cruz,
The launching of the program was attended by Governor Orlando Yebes, former Congressman Romeo Jalosjos and City officials of Dapitan. These watercrafts are also assigning of commitment that the army shall walk, talk and fully commit itself to public safety and security, most especially in
Ortiz continued his speech that the Philippine Army watercraft project dubbed as "CONDOR" is a commitment of the military not only to the local government and to the AFP but also to the constituents of
The watercrafts built under project "CONDOR" are feat in them. Thirteen watercraft assets are about to be launched in addition to the built watercrafts earlier, and other assets available to the army nationwide.
The Project Condor , has three primary objectives : first is to help preserve the element of surprise in favor the soldiers during surgical strikes and operations utilizing the sea and wáter channels as a means of manuever rather than as obstacles. Relentless mopping –up operations are now giving way to surgical target and intelligence –driven strikes using the sea as an avenue of approach which greatly preserves the fighting capacity of the military .Second, is to deny the enemy use of water channels; thereby, constricting the avenue where they can move cut their lifeline of supplies and supports from nearby islands and contain the spill –over of conflict to other areas, Lastly, to assist our local government units in every possible way for the conduct of humanitarian and socio-economic projects that will directly benefit the people.

Siargao nautical highway project gains headway
The multi-million-peso project, which includes a network of roads, bridges and world-class roll-on roll-off (RORO) port facilities, aims to develop Siargao Island into a tourist-friendly destination, a report from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said.
Aside from its white sand beaches, Siargao Island is famous for its world-class sea waves that attract local and international surfers.
According to the project plan, a 120-meter bridge will be built to connect Socorro town's Barangay Sering in Bocas Grande Island to Pagaspas Island, the report said.
It said, another 30-meter bridge will be constructed to connect Pagaspas Island to the Middle Bucas Grande Island, an islet south of Siargao.
From there, another 30-meter bridge will be constructed to connect the island to Barangay Consolacion. From here, a road and a RORO port to Barangay San Miguel will be built.
RORO ports and roads from Barangay Jubang going to Barangay Sta. Fe, will also be constructed to complete the nautical highway project.
In the east of Surigao, meanwhile, a new RORO port will be built in Barangay Jayanggabon in Claver town, together with a complimentary RORO port in Barangay Doña Helene in Socorro. Both projects are estimated to cost P350 million, according to the PIA.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) represented by Engr. Wolter C. Mantilla committed to give its full support for the development of the roads network, which formed part of the proposed nautical highway project.
The PIA quoted local officials as saying that the nautical highway project will offer an efficient and short way to travel to Bucas Grande Island and Siargao Island. The route will provide businessmen an alternative way to transport their cargoes from different parts of the Philippines.
For tourists and travelers, the proposed nautical highway will allow them to hop from one island to another and enjoy the scenery of the islands in the comfort of their cars, it said.
Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas said the nautical highway project will improve the socio-economic condition in Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands as it provides employment and investment opportunities especially in tourism industry.
The proposed Siargao Nautical Highway project is a long term project of the Office of Congressman Francisco T. Matugas (1st District Surigao del Norte), the Office of Governor Sol F. Matugas of the Province of Surigao del Norte, Philippine Ports Authority, National Economic Development Administration (NEDA) and DPWH, with the endorsement of the Local Government Officials of Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands. — Ben Serrano/Karlitos Brian Decena/LBG, GMA News

Dapitan City -His gold in the triple jump took Rolando Sisgados, Jr. in his ultimate dream to become a Palaro winner and region 12's first day medal snatcher in this year's Palarong Pambansa held here in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
"I longed to be a Palaro player and now I am not only a player but a Palaro gold medalist," Sisgados beamed in vernacular, beating his two other opponents from Central Visayas in his best distance of 11. 58 meters.
However, Sisgados, a grade five pupil of Polomolok Central Elementary School in South Cotabato, is a Palaro first timer but could no longer compete next year because of his age although he will return with a vengeance in 2013, according to two-time Palaro coach in athletics Carlito Catubig, as told to him by his favorite player Rolando.
"With his determination, perseverance, and his age he would eventually came nearer to 2010 Palaro triple jumper Mark Harry Diones' 14.44 meters of region 2 when he resume his game in 2013 as a high school player," Catubig said confidently.
Meanwhile, Mary Jane Lawas of General Santos City bagged a silver medal in shot-put elementary in her best distance of 8.96 meters, just a split lower against Terenzecel Medina of the host region Zamboanga Peninsula.
In an interview, region 12 training director Pedro Dajay commented, "The region is doing well in its first day."
The region's elementary football team lambasted CARAGA region, 9-0, advancing them in the next game today while four boxers from General Santos City, both elementary and secondary, have spent their best moments last night as they grabbed the chance to move up in the qualifying hit with another three games this afternoon.
