Fugitive from Justice Falls to AFP-PNP Joint Operations in Sibuco by: MARIZ REVALES

Pagadian City – A wanted criminal falls to combined forces of AFP and PNP while serving his warrant of arrest for murder in Brgy. Lakiki, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte on Saturday at 6:30 am.

Abdulmajid Abdulhaman aka "MOLLONG", a fugitive from justice, resisted arrest which led to a gun battle between government forces and four (4) of his cohorts that ultimately caused his death in the ensuing 30-minute firefight.

No casualties were reported from the government side while the cohorts of the slain fugitive escaped.

According to 1st Lt. Kevin A. Suaybaguio, team leader of Alpha Company, 44th Infantry Battalion, he assisted the PNP – Special Action Force and Sibuco Municipal Police in serving the warrant (Criminal Case Nr. 899 dated Dec. 28, 2010 and Crim Case Nr 618 dated Dec. 26, 2006) because alyas "MOLLONG" is heavily armed and has sought refuge in MILF areas of temporary stay (ATS) in Sibuco.

It is still being determined whether "MOLLONG" and his cohorts are active members of the MILF or simply lawless bandits claiming allegiance to that organization for recognition of political immunity.

"In a related incident, it can be remembered that the MILF leadership has denied any connection with the late Camsa Asdanal," another slain wanted criminal from Sibugay province who fell in a previous joint AFP-PNP dragnet in April this year, according to Cpt Arthur L. Eamiguel, the Division Public Affairs Officer.

The PNP-SAF was led by Police Chief Inspector Indanan while the local police of Sibuco was led by Police Inspector Nasser D. Jiyara Jr.

Meanwhile, Honorable Jan Jan Edding, a municipal councilor of Sibuco, personally witnessed the encounter. He joined the government forces on that early Saturday in order to serve the warrant peacefully but events were quickly overturned since "MOLLONG" resisted the law.

Also recovered from the scene of encounter is the cadaver of "MOLLONG", a .45 caliber pistol with three magazines and eight ammunitions.
